How it Works

On the starters orders, the 2,000 balls will be release from the South Canterbury Finance Running of the Balls Tardis

All of the balls must run the course under their own steam with only gravity, the lumps and bumps in the road, pinball-style flippers, a team of back-up sweepers and a whole lotta luck pulling and pushing them towards the winning chute

The Biggest Pinball Game in the World

The balls will make their way down the hill through an array of six pairs of hay bales - arranged in a herring-bone - to counter the camber of the road

Giant flippers, as on a pinball machine, will (hopefully!) be used by the crew to redirect any or all balls that are heading for the gutter - so that they can re-enter the flow

Sweepers

A team of highly experienced sweepers (trained in applied broom management) will follow behind to urge any stragglers and wanderers to get a move on and aim for the Finish Chute where The First Five that jostle their way into the Lotto Tube and the the Lucky Last to enter the chute will be declared as the winners!

Once all 2,000 balls have arrived in the Finish Chute and the Lucky Last has been identified, the Lotto Tube will be disconnected from the chute and taken to the prize-giving stage at the corner of Manuka Street where the results of all races, competitions and challenges will be announced

The Fine Print

We don't have 'fine print'

Instead, we try to be as transparent as possible

Loose Cannons

Unless all of the balls are sold, there is a chance that one of the first five and/or the Lucky Last will be declared a Loose Cannon, in which case the next nearest number will be declared a winner

And... if two numbers are equidistant from a Loose Cannon, then the higher of two such numbers will be declared a winner

Please return all balls to the crew at the Finish Line for reuse next year!

Thanks

Good Luck!
