So that their children could compete in the trolley derby in Nelson, the parents of Dennis and Linda Marchant, of Gore, organised their holiday round this event. Nor were they disappointed. Linda won the 8-inch wheel section, and Dennis the 10-inch section and the Keith Roper trophyRe-presented in 2009 by Colleen and Trevor Carston as The Spirit of the Derby Cup
