Why

The trolley derby is
an iconic Nelson event for both participants and spectators alike
providing families a chance to work together on trolley building projects, or just enjoy the spectacle and activities on the day.
a great excuse for children and grown-ups to build trolleys together and then go flat out down a hill
an opporunity for kids and grown-ups to work together and have fun
the perfect Kiwi summer project for children to work on with their parents and friends over the school holidays
encouraging children to set a goal, work towards it and feel a sense of achievement
an integral part of the summer spirit of our town
